Boo Hoo Hoo!

I am sad that Brooke left AI tonight. I teared up just watching her cry. I wanting her to at least come in second behind David Cook. I really want him to win. Brooke is way more talented than Jason.

I really liked the song that Neil Diamond sang..."Pretty Amazing Grace". I will try to post the word to the song. I tried earlier and my computer hung up.

Our garden is doing great. We might be eating fresh veggies by next week!

One of the trips we have planned for this summer is going to work out great. The owner of the Bed and Breakfast emailed me and said that we get $25 off for our return visit and also the 5th night is free. We talked about it and decide to stay 6 nights. I am so looking forward to this trip. We will have the time to do stuff and it will be long enough to completely relax. I want to go to the Riverwalk and of course the outlet mall. Dan wants to take a picnic lunch and drive up Hwy 16 between Bandera and Kerrville. It will be so awesome! We are also thinking about adding another trip in August. This trip will be to see our brothers (in Marfa and Abilene) and ex-father in laws!

The hurricane book is almost done, thank goodness. It seems like every day when I get to work there are tons of corrections. I added up the orders today and we have sold about 29,000 books!

What was up with Paula on AI tonight? She was dazed and confused to say the least. I am still holding out hope for Brooke or David Cooke. I wish they could pick each one of them. The AI tour is coming to Houston and I would love to go. I just might check into how much the tickets are and when they will be here.

I have been planning our summer trips. So far we have decided to go to BLANK for a long weekend and to our favorite Bed and Breakfast in BLANK for a week. It's called the "none of your business". It's a few miles away from the city and totally awesome. I am so excited about this trip. I also made reservations to go with CDM2 to New Braunfels so she can get her shopping fix at the outlet malls in San Marcos. We will also have to go over and see CDM1 in Austin.

I got my hair cut today. I found the picture of the way she cut it time before last. I loved that hair cut and it was so easy to take care of. Then last time we could not find the picture or remember how she cut it. I was not as pleased and it was harder to do each day. I also got about 1 1/2" cut off. It has been so tangled after I wash it each day, it was driving me crazy. Hopefully it will be better.

I am really looking forward to my trip to Shreveport. I am going to make WW drive all the way there. I will remind her of how many trips we have taken together and I ended up driving the whole way.

About our lunch in Needville...we were waiting for our food and I picked up a local newspaper. I was casually looking through one of them and SUDDENLY I found myself reading a really raunchy story/joke. I thought it was kind of funny and then I kept turning the pages and there was another raunchy story/joke. These stupid little stories were all throughout the newspaper. It was so bizarre. Normally you would think you were going to read about something news worthy and BAM it's something that I can't even post here. Mainly because the stories/jokes were so trashy or they were just down right mean. There was alot of political bashing and they were bashing the Democrats. Mostly it was raunchy..trashy stuff you might see on the Internet. BIZARRE is the only word I can come up with. At one point Dan got up to go to the restroom and when he cam back, I was almost crying I was laughing so hard. Mostly because it was so BIZARRE!

We had a blast today. Dan enjoyed the ride over to Rosenberg. We went on FM 1462 and then on Hwy 36. The weather cleared up and it did not rain on us. We almost did not go because I thought it was going to rain all day. Anyway, Rosenberg has lots of antique shops and we went into all of them. Together we saw lots of stuff that we might like to have someday. The only thing we bought was some vintage "Vera" napkins and two vintage handkerchiefs. We are going to try and use less Kleenex and napkins. So we are buying cotton napkins and also handkerchiefs. The napkins we bought have big sunflowers on them. Too cool.

We ate lunch in Needville at the Texas Burger/Subway. I picked up two local newspapers. I started reading one and it had me laughing so hard, I had tears in my eyes. I will have to post some of the things that were in the newspaper. It was too bizare. And that is an understatement. You gotta love small town newspapers.

Too bad...so sad...

last night I wrote a really cute, smart, super funny and highly intellectual post. Then lost it some where right after I hit publish post. It was just lost. I was frustrated and gave up. I don't think I can re-create a post that was that good again...ever. Instead I will ramble...

Work is stressful right now. Too many cooks spoil the soup, or something like that. My project has taken way too long to do and I am worn out from it.

I get to go to Shreveport, LA soon. I am excited. I love to go on trips. I will miss MSH alot. We will have alot of making out...I mean making up for lost time when I get home.

Tomorrow we are taking a day trip to Rosenberg. I am really excited about that.

(In case you are wondering...we are watching either another show or the same show about the.....yes, you guessed it... the Enterprise! Don't you wish you were here?)

When I eat a bag of chips with my sandwich (usually from Subway) I sort my chips into piles of broken ones and unbroken ones. I save the unbroken ones for last. Can you say OCD?

I am glad to see the community come together and help out a local foster home that some of the kids from the "cult" will be staying at. The local news did a story and the home is receiving alot of help with furniture and food. I feel bad for all of the kids.

The Internet will be full by 2010. You can read about it here.

Texas has added over 40,000 in the last year or maybe it was last month. Either way, that's alot of jobs.

I can reitre in 52 months.

MSH is funny. He keeps me laughing all the time. Laughing is very good for you.

We need to start riding out bikes. We are so tired when we get home each evening it's hard to get motivated.

I am really excited about tomorrow.

I am starting to repeat myself, time to go to bed!

Weird way of talking.

I am working from home again today. I must get done with this project today. Hopefully I will.

I am not one to make fun of people or put people down. That is not what I am doing with this next statement.

You know those people in Texas who have had their children taken away? What is with the way they talk? The men and women talk like they are drugged. Especially the women. They talk very slow and keep correcting themselves. Weird. I am very into the way people talk. I love different accents and always try to figure out where people are from. (I am usually right with I guess where someone is from!) I have never heard people talk like those people do. It's very interesting to me. Is it really they way they talk or are they just talking like like for the media?

Check out MSH's blog from Saturday April 19th with the title "Butterflies". What he wrote is so insightful. He is a very rare man who can see beyond what most people see. He is so smart. I thank God constantly that I get to be his wife!

The book

I am focusing on the book. I am working from home and doing nothing else but the book. I am getting overdosed on the book. I will be glad when the book is done. Can I get an Amen?

Right now I am taking a small break from the book. Seriously, do you know how boring hurricanes actually are when you have to do a whole book on them. Anyway, it's really my favorite part of my job. The "formatting of the book" not the content.

I can't wait to see MSH. It's his loooooong day at work. He has to work an atheltic event after school today. I feel bad for him, since he had the surgery yesterday. I hope it does not hurt too bad. The good news is that the doctor got all the cancer and he does not have to go back for 6 months. That's very good. We are so blessed!

Gotta get back to work.

Mother/Daugher Pictures

Here are the pictures we are using for the Mother/Daughter Brunch at church. Since we had 3 people I used 10 photos. Anyway...Carolon said I could use as MANY as I wanted!!

My Mom and me in Pensacola
My Mom and me in Corpus Cristi
and in Houston
Casey and me in Alvin
and in Alvin
Glamour Shots
My Mom and Casey
Us in Colorado
Us again, around the time Casey graduated from high schoolAll three of us at Christmas 2007
For the brunch I am going to make a breakfast cake that has some unusual ingredients in it. I am looking forward to it and seeing how everyone else likes it.

And finally...today a our luncheon in Galveston our new boss was announced. Drum roll please...
Gene is the new MIC (Meteorologist In Charge).

I am sure that fun times are ahead.

Today is the big day that we have been planning for for a few months. The P-3 Plane tour is in Galveston for the day. It might be interesting to someone who is a weather nut. I am not. I just work here! BUT I will enjoy getting to eat lunch with my former boss, Bill Read, who is now the Director of the National Hurricane Center.

Our front yard looks amazing. The grass is so green and thick. MSH (My Sweet Husband) knows something about taking care of lawns. Our garden looks great also. The plants are getting so big. Soon we will be enjoying the fruits of our labor. OR I should say MSH's labor.

CDM1 got most of our computer problems fixed while he was here last weekend. I am thankful for that. We are going to transfer all of MSH's stuff off of his computer on to another computer we have. This computer will be mostly for storing stuff and to use if one of the laptops breaks again.

I am getting alot of jewelry made in the last few days. I am re-doing some necklaces that were broken. I am trying to use up alot of my beads that I have on hand, so I can buy some more!! I have a TON of beads. I collect vintage glass beads. My favorites are from Germany. There used to be a lady on Ebay who had the most beautiful beads. She quit selling on Ebay a few years ago. I miss her beautiful beads. Right now I am into Swarovski Pearls. They are simply beautiful. Especially matched up with Swarovski Crystals. I found a lady on Ebay who sells both at pretty good prices. Anyway, that is my latest obsession.

We are watching the "John Adams" series on TV. It is so good, if you like early American hisotry. I also can't wait for American Idol this week.

Have a Blessed Day!

Fun Facts about me:

My parents are both from the Panhandle.
My parents met at ACU.
After graduation my Dad joined the Navy as a pilot.
I went to ACU for three semesters. I am not very good in school. I think it was all that moving around as a kid.
I was born in Pensacola, FL.
I was the only one in my whole entire family who was NOT born in Texas. :(
I went eight different schools.
I only have one cousin on my Dad's side and only three cousins on my Mom's side.
I was the only granddaughter on my Dad's side.
My brother was the only grandson on my Mom's side.
I saw kids doing drugs and overdosing on drugs at school while I was in the 7th and 8th grade.
During that time we lived in San Jose, CA.
I had a crush on our paperboy in California, who happened to live down the street from us.
My Uncle Johnny teased me about this for many years.
I loved the church we went while living in Buffalo Grove, IL.
Ron Goldman (think Nicole Simpson) and Vince Vaughn both are from Buffalo Grove.
I had to change schools between my junior and senior year. It was not fun.
My first high school was small and about 98% white upper middle class.
My second high school was very large and about 40% regular or lower middle class.
The school was in the process of integration and most were not happy. We had race riots. One time I actually climbed a really high chain link fence to escape.
I met the Do0bie Brothers while I was at ACU.
I have had 11 jobs in my life.
I have been at my current job for 19 years.
I can retire in 52 months.
I have alot of things I wish I could have done differently while raising my kids.
Both of my kids turned out really good.
I have one son and one daughter.
My son is very very funny and happy.
At age 50 I met and married the most wonderful man. I am blessed to be his wife.
We believe that God brought us together and we are so thankful.

I am writing all of these things because Dan has "The USS Enterprise" on AGAIN. I know every story that ever happen on or near the USS Enterprise. I could tell you that aircraft carrier's whole life story. Seriously. Sometimes when I fall asleep at night I dream of planes taking off and landing and also bombs. Seriously. They served 7500 meals per day. They have one man assigned just for the "spud room". Enough. Oh wait, left over food is grounded up and mixed with water and dumped overboard. Now that's TMI.

Good Night!

Noooooo flippppppping way.....I can't believe that Michael Johns got kicked off of Idol tonight. I hope he goes on to become a mega star. I wanted him or Brooke White to win. :(

We were just blown away with the opening song on Idol tonight. They really made a statement letting the singers open up "Shout to the Lord". That song still makes me tear up every time I sing it or hear it. It takes me back to the time when Jared died.
Anyway we loved the fact that Idol opened up with that song. Here are the words:

My Jesus, My Savior
Lord there is none like You
All of my days, I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love
My Comfort, My Shelter
Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath, all that I am
Never cease to worship You

Shout to the Lord, all the earth Let us sing.
Power and majesty, praise to the King.
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands
Forever I'll love you, forever I'll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have in YOU!

My Jesus, My Savior
Lord there is none like You
All of my days, I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love
My Comfort, My Shelter
Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath, all that I am

I have orders for over 23,000 Hurricane Books so far. This is great, sorta of. I have not gotten a really good start on the book yet. I have been so busy doing other things that I have not had the time to devote to the book. Next week is the big luncheon with my old boss and his new crew. The plane will be on the Island and I will be at the Hotel when everyone comes for lunch. We have invited 50 local people to come eat lunch with Bill and his crew. After Tuesday, then I will have to devote most of my time to the book. I have to get it done!

This weekend will be fun. CDM1 is coming to town to celebrate his 28th birthday. Can you believe that my son is that old! I can hardly believe it. He gets to go to China in a few weeks. I get to go to Shreveport, La. Humm...I think he is luckier!! My parents will be coming down for dinner on Saturday. They love to "BYOS". That's "bring your own steak"!! They don't have anywhere to grill anymore since they moved into the retirement place. We don't mind cooking steaks for them. I am going to have fresh green beans and buttered new potatoes. Yes, I have been to Froberg's again. Their produce is so good, fresh and cheap.

I can't wait for American Idol to come on tonight.

Later!
Kim

Oooops, here is a picture of Jack in his "Jack Jail". I certainly don't want to forget him

Here are some pictures of our garden. Three of the four boxes are doing great. For some reason the fourth box is not doing that great. We might have to replant it. We planted our most favorite vegetables, which include...green beans, yellow squash, peas, turnips, lettuce, onions, okra, broccoli, eggplant, zucchini, cauliflower, sweet peppers and of course tomatoes.

We can't wait for the crops to come in!

Bunco Tonight!

Seriously, I can not for the life of me figure out how to make the picture in my banner move over to the side. I have read the html code and can't find what I am looking for. Anyway it's driving me crazy!!

I have Bunco tonight. I love Bunco. I hope I win!

I am snowed under at work. Too much to do.

Last night I finally got my printer/scanner to work with my new laptop that has Vista on it. What a pain it was trying to figure that out.

CDM1's company is laying off 10% of it's workforce. Hopefully he will not be laid off. I still say that the best job a person can have these days (that is if they can't get a good cushy government job) is to be a teacher. The salary is not that bad considering all the time off you get. It's just like being a kid again...you get time off at Christmas, Spring Break and the summer off.

Have a blessed day!

Now that was a weekend!

We started it off by going to a restaurant that I have heard about and wanted to try. I did not like it. It won’t hurt my feeling if we NEVER go back there again. It’s a seafood restaurant and supposed to be really good. I got fried catfish and crawfish. My food was dripping with 47 lbs of grease. It was gross. Anyway I had fun with MSH and that’s the only thing that counts..

On the way home my phone rang and I did not recognize the number, so I did not answer it. The person did not leave a message. I was driving and usually do not like to talk on the phone but I decided to call the number back. A man answered and I did not recognize his voice, so I simply hung up. He called back a couple more time BUT I did not answer and he did not leave a message. Fast forward to when we got home and I was telling Dan and Casey about these phone calls. Casey ask what the number was and I told her. She said that’s Jerry’s number. How funny is that!! The next morning I am standing on a chair dusting some shelves and my phone rings again and I miss the call and of course the person does not leave a message. This time I was able to call him back...it was Jerry again.

On Saturday we cleaned most of the day. Dan cleaned most of the carpets and I also get the laundry done. We have kind of a good system going, I can get it all done except for the folding. It stacks up on the couch and Dan folds it while he is watching the Enterprise, I mean TV. Dan also unloads the dishwasher for me. A job I really don’t like to do. He also takes all the trash out on trash days. Most other things either one of us will do depending on who gets to it first.
Everything usually gets done without a lot of fanfare. After working in the house, Dan went outside and did all the yard work. And changed the oil in the Ranger! The man has so much energy and he is such a hard worker. I am constantly amazed (usually while I am crashed on the couch!) by him.

Sunday we only had a little bit of work to get done before Small Groups. I made cookies and Dan folded clothes and ran the vacuum. I also took a nice 20 minute nap. We had March Madness a little late and MSH played. I will upload some video’s I took of him playing.

We plan to have a quiet work week and CDM1 is coming to visit this weekend. Wahoo!!

Hummm, Beef Stew or Dog Food!

I forgot to post about an experience we had last weekend. We went shopping at Sam's to stock up on stuff we were out of. As usual they had all the "Sample People" out handing out samples. I usually do not take a sample and just ignore them. We were on our way to the back of the store and there was an old man standing next to a table. On the table there was small plates with what looked like to be beef stew. The plates also had forks on them. People would walk up and take a plate with the food on it (remember it also had a fork on it). Then the old man would tell them "No you can't eat that...it's dog food"! WHAT??? Why in the world would they have the dog food out on plates with forks? Even if dogs did so shopping...then don't eat with forks. People were stunned, when the man told them not to eat it. How weird is that?

We are cleaning today and Dan is doing the yard. The garden is growing really alot. I will take picture later and post them.

My son is going to China!! How lucky is he? He might not get to see much, but he can get a feel for if it's a place he would like to go back to sometime. After he returns home from China he gets to go back to Las Vegas. I would rather go to Las Vegas!

Have a Blessed Day!

It's a new day

I am making the switch. Out with the old and in with the new. I am trying to get used to the look and feel of this new blogging program.

It looks like it's going to be a great weekend. The weather should be perfect. I am feeling a little bit better and that's wonderful. We are planning a fishing trip in the morning. We are not going to go out very far because of the late start. Hopefully we will catch enough fish for dinner tomorrow night.

April is our month to host Small Groups so we must dust and vacuum. At least there is not ten tons of clutter to pick up first.

Life is good.
